Doc Duhon is a gay leatherman who has been active in the BDSM community for over 30 years. He is an experienced BDSM player with background which includes situational control, care of submissives, percussion play expertise, needle, scalpel, and piercing play, and a variety of other skills and techniques.
Doc teaches kink and bdsm techniques on a private basis, has judged both gay and pansexual BDSM/Leather contests, has taught kink and power dynamic classes at conferences, and has mentored numerous upcoming members of the leather community. As a collared switch with submissives of his own, he both serves and is served.
Lady Sierra is a Leather Woman who has had a very long career in Health Care. She has practiced the art and science of nursing both here in Canada and abroad. She has experience in Hospital and Outpatient Management, Organ Donation and Transplantation, Surgery, Intensive Care, Emergency, Home Care and Chronic Disease Management. Her knowledge of the system is both first hand and extensive. She is particularly well versed on the obligations of nursing, medicine and allied health caregivers where there is evidence and suspicion regarding abuse of any person, including elders and children. This includes abuse in all forms: physical, financial, cultural, verbal, emotional as well as neglectful treatment such as starvation, humiliation, social isolation and cultural or religious deprivation. She is quick to recognize potentially abusive situations and offers her time and sympathetic ear to those who feel they are in such a partnership dynamic.
Sierra also has a good working knowledge of the use of legal (prescription, alcohol and cannabis) and illegal (street source) drugs and the consequences of their use with consent and play in our community. She shares sensible advice for what to do when faced with accessing the very vanilla health care system as a kinky person or couple in both planned and emergency situations.
Lady Umbra & her slave, prairie_locked.
Lady Umbra is Master to her slave, prairie_locked, and they share a 24/7, long-distance relationship dynamic built on elements of consensual non-consent, Owner/property, Leather, and spirituality. The best way to describe their relationship is not as a Queen and her knight, but rather as a Queen and her court jester! Lady Umbra rules with a strict yet compassionate demeanor, and he devotes his life to her service with a humorous flair. They espouse an equitable relationship, yet maintain the inequality in their roles through structured protocols and rituals. Lady Umbra and her slave also enjoy a wide variety of edgier play that combines whips, needles, knives, boots, cigars, and humiliation.
Lady Umbra is a devoted advocate for building healthier BDSM communities and women’s empowerment. These passions flow from her personal life which led Lady Umbra to serve on the board of directors of Xibalba Studio from Fall 2015 until February 2017, as well as co-found the Saskatoon BDSM Women’s Group in late 2015. Lady Umbra is also the founder of the Prairie Women’s Network which provides a safe BDSM space for women from Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
As for her slave, prairie_locked has been on the board of directors of Kink Regina since July 2016, previously serving as house slave.
They are the group leaders of Saskatchewan Power Exchange (SKPE). One of their ongoing ambitions has been to help strengthen the bond between the BDSM communities in their respective cities, and it was through this endeavour that Lady Umbra and prairie_locked first encountered each other and discovered their shared love of bootblacking.
Lady Umbra and her slave are grateful to be the 2018 International Power Exchange and the 2017 Western Canada Power Exchange titleholders. As educational ambassadors, they are thrilled to travel around Canada and the US connecting communities and helping inspire people to explore their own power exchange relationships. Together Lady Umbra and her slave have presented workshops on a variety of topics including artistic needles, humiliation play, and mindfulness in power exchange relationships.
Rene Hebert (Voration)
Rene is a bootblack who’s been actively loving on boots and other leathers for the past 8 years. Beginning with his 2010 win as Western Canada Leatherboy 2011, Rene began bootblacking as a way of raising money for his travel fund to compete at the International Leatherboy contest the following summer. Since then, he’s discovered an undeniable love and passion for boots and bootblacking. This passion has led him to bootblack and teach classes throughout western Canada, as well as various venues along the west coast of the United States. Recently, he’s become something of a house bootblack at the Eagle 562 bar’s Polish and Shine events in Long Beach, California.
Sir Luke & victor
Sir Luke and victor felt an immediate sense of belonging from the first time they met at their local dungeon. After years of personal growth, their paths led them to each other again in 2013. As an M/s couple, they share how they transform hardships and challenges into connections that deepen their dynamic to help others in the community do the same. Their core ideals as Master and slave include service, protocol, their Leather identity, and activism.
When they faced victor’s newly diagnosed mental illness, they couldn’t find any advice except, “Run away as fast as possible!” So they decided to be the change they wanted to see in the world to guide people involved in PE relationships of all types. Because they have overcome trials that often pull working dynamics apart, they are honored to share their experiences to help others find methods that suit their own PE dynamics. Their classes cover topics from developing structure and protocol to communication methods that develop trust and encourage alignment.
Together, they hold the 2016 & 2017 Florida Power Exchange title. They balance their dichotomous desires for heavy S&M, structure and ritual, and deeply passionate entanglement within their Master/slave dynamic. While their level of authority transfer isn’t for everyone, the skills they have learned in their dynamic are applicable to all PE relationships, and they are always ready to encourage people to find and live their authentic self.
Polar and nephesh are known for a play style and workshops that lean towards the edgier styles of play; knives, bare-handed impact, whips and blood play to name a few. They strive to bring humor, sexuality and passion into their brutality.
Polar and nephesh are active in the local kink community of Vancouver Island and have offered workshops throughout Canada and the US. They love the opportunity to meet and learn from other perverts.
Teagan fell in love with bootblacking at a young age, doing her shoes before church. Although these days her skills are being put to more salacious uses, she still identifies as a spiritual bootblack. For her, the act of bootblacking harkens back to the foot-washing ritual. She is honored to provide a humble service to her community. As a bootblack, Teagan loves the exchange of energy and the intimate connection that the stand creates. She views herself as a healer, seeking to clean both the leather and it’s owner during their time in her stand. Teagan firmly believes that the bootblack stand is a sanctuary for those in need. Wether she’s working a stand, or sitting for other bootblacks – that’s the feeling she chases.
Teagan is an individual director for the Bay Area Leather Alliance Board. Over the past three years she’s been the stage manager for the Mr San Francisco Leather contest. In 2018, in conjunction with the Leather Alliance she produced the first ever San Francisco Bootblack contest.
Teagan is International Ms Bootblack 2018, and the 20th person to hold that title. She is also Southwest Bootblack 2017 and Southern California Bootblack 2016. She is based in Oakland, CA. During her title years she has invited our community to “Take Refuge” in the capable hands of our bootblacks.
Kirsten or Rainbow is the current Western Canadian Bootblack. Kirsten’s pronouns are She/Her, and hails from Edmonton. She has been involved in Kink and the Leather community for the past 6 years, and has been Bootblacking for 5 of them. She is a Bootblack first and foremost, but is also a Leatherwoman, and working towards understanding the history and landscape that is our community. She is huge nerd and a leather/boot nerd, and loves when the two of them can be combined, and will gladly talk about any or all of them at length.
This year she has been honoured to teach at Westcoast Bound in Vancouver, different classes in Edmonton for both DADE and YEGAS, and was able to bootblack at the most recent Kink on Film night prior to the screening of Tom of Finland. She also recently presented in Winnipeg for the WSPC Fetish weekend, and is looking forward to more events in Alberta.
